About Tom Sweet

Tom Sweet, a seasoned financial planner with over four decades of experience, embarked on his journey in the financial industry in 1979 at the age of 24. His early years were shaped by his association with IDS Financial in Minneapolis, who spent over $100,000 training Tom to be a needs driven financial planner. This training laid the foundation for Tom’s expertise in needs-based financial planning, a rarity in the industry at the time. Tom’s career took root at IDS in Rockford, Illinois, where he applied the knowledge imparted by IDS to interact with the public and offer comprehensive financial planning solutions. His dedication and acquired skills led to a successful stint managing broker/dealers for large insurance companies in Wisconsin, overseeing up to 55 professionals.

In 2018, Tom took a bold step, founding Tom Sweet Financial as an independent practitioner. Despite being a one-person operation, Tom strategically built a network of experts, including estate planning attorneys, annuity specialists, Medicare Supplement advisors, and tax planners.

Motivated by a desire to empower individuals with financial knowledge, Tom transitioned from a design engineer role to the financial industry in 1979. His commitment to educating clients on the intricacies of money and capitalism arose from recognizing the lack of formal education on financial success.

Tom finds immense reward in witnessing the positive impact of his guidance on clients’ lives. From facilitating happy retirements to aiding in college planning and tax optimization, Tom’s passion lies in helping people navigate the complexities of financial planning.

Clients appreciate Tom’s depth of wisdom and unbiased approach to problem-solving. His diverse licensing, including a real estate license, sets him apart. Tom’s commitment to honesty and transparency in sharing his own financial decisions fosters trust, a quality often lacking in the financial industry.

Accredited with the CLU and ChFC designations from the American College, Tom completed a rigorous program independently, demonstrating his dedication and expertise. His securities licenses (Series 1, 7, 24, 26, 53, 63, and 65) further underline his commitment to professional excellence.

Tom’s practice primarily focuses on pre-retirees and retirees, reflecting a shift from his earlier niche in closely held business owners and highly compensated professionals. His affiliation with Packerland Brokerage Services in Green Bay, WI, is marked by a commitment to ethical standards and client well-being.

Beyond his professional achievements, Tom Sweet has been married to his wife, Shelly for 36 years, with two sons, Aaron and Kyle. A golf enthusiast, Tom combines his love for the sport with frequent travel. He engages in volunteer work, particularly with children, and remains an avid reader of fiction.

Tom’s accolades include multiple recognitions with the 5 Star Wealth Management Award, highlighting his commitment to providing quality services to clients. His dedication to client success, coupled with a unique and comprehensive approach, positions Tom Sweet as a distinguished figure in the financial planning landscape.

Our Primary Goal Is To Eliminate Your Financial Risks

Retiring means walking away from all kinds of perks while on the job, and there is no guarantee of financial success once you retire. Pensions are one vehicle that can help (if you have one) but are insufficient covering all of your retirement needs. An expert can help show you how to supplement the pension with other types of income including Social Security and drawing income from other assets. Let us show you how to make this all work to your benefit.
